Spring is In the Air!
As the days get longer and the sun starts to feel a little warmer, it’s clear that spring is beginning to make its way to Rouleau. After months of snowbanks, icy sidewalks, and frosty mornings, it’s always refreshing to see puddles forming, birds returning, and the first hints of green pushing through. With the change of seasons comes a shift in the work happening around town, and I want to share a few important updates as we move into spring.

Spring Run Off
Spring run-off is an annual challenge for every prairie community, and Rouleau is no exception. As the snow melts, water can pool in areas we don’t expect or cause temporary drainage issues.
If you notice any concerns related to run-off—such as blocked culverts, pooling water, or areas that may require attention—please contact the Town Office directly.
The office will make sure the information gets to our Town Foreman so the issue can be addressed properly.
This process helps ensure that nothing gets missed and that our team can prioritize work in an organized and efficient way. While council is always here to support the community, reaching out individually to councillors can lead to delays or duplicate reporting. Using the office as your first point of contact ensures the right people are notified quickly and helps things move smoothly.
Town of Rouleau and RM of Redburn Municipal Office Separation
As indicated in the March 2026 Agenda (under new business), discussion has begun regarding The RM of Redburn and its intent to establish its own municipal office. This means our long-standing joint office arrangement will be coming to an end in 2026. We are currently working through all of the logistical details, which includes everything from staffing to equipment requirements to the transition timeline.
While much of this work is still in progress, one thing is already clear:
without the cost-sharing we’ve enjoyed under the joint agreement, the Town of Rouleau’s operating expenses will increase.
I want residents to have a heads-up as we move into budget discussions in the months ahead. Transparency is important, and we will continue to share updates as this transition becomes more defined.
Events Coming Up Around Town
As we move into the warmer months, community events continue to pop up. These activities are at the heart of what makes Rouleau special. They bring people together, support local groups, and help keep our community vibrant. I encourage you to get out to these events, meet your neighbors and have some fun!
- Senior Rambler Awards Banquet: Saturday March 14th @ Town Hall
- 21st Annual ALUMNI HOCKEY Tournament: Friday March 27 & Saturday March 28 @ Rink
- St. Patrick’s Day 5-Course Meal: Tuesday March 17th @ Rouleau Bar and Grill
- T-Shirt Making Program: Friday March 20 @ Rouleau Palliser Library
I want to again reiterate how important it is to participate, cheer on organizers, and show support wherever you can. These events only happen because volunteers, businesses, and residents step up and your involvement genuinely makes a difference.
